The Country of Coloured Shadows

The Country of Coloured Shadows is not only an artistic creation to set up my exhibition. These strange little men do exist somewhere in reality: I like to think that I could meet them sooner or later. They look very much alike but each one has a strong and very well defined personality. The colours and their hats make each of them a unique entity.

I really enjoyed working on this project approached with irony and joyful enthusiasm: each single sculpture made me wanting to play even when the work was hard, by times complicated and abstracted.

I say abstracted since actually an idea is not tangible and difficult to transform into matter. As an artist I should be able to make clear to others what I see (and what I don’t see), translating my mental images in a more visible dimension for everybody. Actually it is more complicated explaining how to understand The Country of Coloured Shadows rather than just doing it. The best thing is let these little people taking us by hand in theur fantastic world.

A world – I guarantee – very funny.
