Precarius animals
This project is represented by ten medium size marble and wood sculptures, one big nahogany sculpture that becomes a table and one aluminium work 6 meters height.
My subjects are inspired, as prefigured in the exhibition title, by the well-known environmental degradation that concerns all of us as well as the animal reign apparently most vulnerable.
Actually we, as human race, are the “precarious animals”, considering that, as our planet history teaches, Nature shows to be the strongest and eventually will survive to the human genre. I am not interested in developing an ambientalistic approach to the problem, but we cannot avoid the alarm the earth is sending and I approach it with my usual irony.
The common denominator of each single sculpture is the presence of a small black marble animal. Subjects have been chosen mainly on their shape rather than on their specific priority in the environmental scale.
The big aluminium sculpture (Jag 1) is a side project that I had in mind since long times and indeed it is a sort of intruder in this exhibition. However it represents my specific tribute to the Jaguar automobile brand, my forever intimate passion.
I hope that this exhibition could be a valid message for the preservation of the environment, still without a radical approach. My intention is to meditate on what we risk to loose, keeping always an intelligent and ironic perspective.
